Early unofficial results have favoured the candidate of the Peoples
Democratic Party and the immediate past Senate president, David Mark
against his main rival, David Onjeh, of the All Progressives Congress,
at the ongoing Benue South Senatorial district re-run election.
Mark has reportedly won his polling unit with 150 votes against 37 votes
of Onjeh in the VIP1, Otukpo Club, and Township ward. Also, in another
polling unit, VIP II, Mark polled 97 to edge out Onjeh with just 19
votes. Below are other unofficial results from the election:

minutes after casting his vote at Otukpo Town East said that he is
confident his constituents will vote him back to the Senate for the
fifth time. He said: “Our people have resolved to return me back. They
have decided that no external forces can come in between us in Zone C
(Benue South). “We call on our supporters to maintain law and order
while the election lasts.” The former Senate president was accompanied
to his polling unit his friend, Senator Tunde Ogbeha, younger brother,
Igoche Mark and supporters.
However, there are reports of voter’s apathy in the ongoing poll as most
places visited showed low voters turnout. According to a presiding
officer of a polling booth visited, a corps member, said that he had
registered about 1275 voters but only 120 people have come out to cast
their votes. Meanwhile, the minister of agriculture and rural
development, Audu Ogbe, could not cast his vote at his polling unit in
Efugo area of the state following his alleged inability to find his
permanent voter card. He has to leave his polling out of frustration
following his inability to perform his civic duty, Daily Post reports.
The minister had earlier called on the people of Benue South senatorial
to maintain law and order during and after the election.
